This policy covers the chalplex website and every app and browser extension published under the chalplex name for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Safari and Chrome.

The short version: our apps collect no personal data — your notes, progress and settings stay on your device. Two things do involve Google: most of our free apps display ads through Google AdMob, and Google collects device data for advertising when they do; and this website uses Google Analytics to count page visits — in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only if you accept the cookie banner first. Our paid apps carry no ads at all. Which applies to a given app is stated on that app's own page.

Introduction

chalplex (“we,” “our,” or “us”) builds small, focused apps and extensions — revision quizzes, calendars, calculators, note tools and utilities. This Privacy Policy explains how those products, and this website, handle information.

What We Collect Ourselves

chalplex does not collect any personal data. We operate no servers or accounts of our own, and we do not collect, store, transmit or sell personally identifiable information. We build no analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs into our apps — the analytics described in This Website below runs on the website only, never inside an app or extension.

No registration, sign-in or user account is required to use our apps.
Your content — notes, quiz progress, starred cards, saved settings — is stored locally on your device, and in your own iCloud account if you have enabled iCloud sync for that app.
Where an app needs a device capability to do its job — the camera, microphone, motion sensors, the compass or the photo picker — that data is processed on your device in the moment and is never transmitted to us.

This does not describe what our advertising partner collects, which is covered next and is the main way data is gathered from our free apps, nor the website analytics described further below.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Most of our free apps display ads using Google AdMob. When an app shows ads, Google automatically collects and processes certain data for personalised or non-personalised advertising, including:

Device identifiers, such as the Advertising ID
Approximate location, used to serve locally relevant ads
Ad performance and interaction data

This data is collected and processed directly by Google, not by us — we never receive it. Google's use of it is governed by their own policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

To turn off personalised ads on an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Apple Advertising and switch off Personalised Ads. You can also reset or limit your Advertising ID there.

Our paid apps contain no ads. Many free apps additionally offer a one-time in-app purchase that removes advertising permanently, alongside unlocks such as extra topics or iCloud sync. Whether a given app is ad-supported, paid and ad-free, or offers a remove-ads purchase is stated on that app's own page and on its store listing.

This Website

This website uses Google Analytics. It has no accounts and no sign-in, and we run no database or server of our own that stores anything about you — but so that we can see which pages are actually useful, every page loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-ZEVDKBT0DL). Through it, Google collects:

Which pages you view, how long you stay, and the link or search that brought you here
Your device type, browser, operating system, language and screen size
An approximate location — country, region and usually city — worked out from your IP address
A randomly generated identifier, stored in cookies named _ga and _ga_ZEVDKBT0DL, which lets Google recognise the same browser on a later visit. These cookies expire after two years, and in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they are not set at all unless you accept.

This does not tell us who you are. We see only aggregate reports — visit counts, popular pages, countries, referring sites — never a name, an email address or an account. Google Analytics 4 uses your IP address to derive that approximate location but does not log or store the address itself. We do not use Google Signals, advertising or remarketing features, demographic reporting, or any cross-site profiling on this property, and we do not upload or join any other data to it. Google processes this data under its own terms; see policies.google.com/privacy and business.safety.google/privacy.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, none of this happens until you say yes. On your first visit a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics, and until you choose Accept the Google Analytics script is never requested and no analytics cookie is written. Choosing Reject — or closing the banner without choosing — leaves measurement switched off, and any analytics cookie already in your browser is deleted. Elsewhere in the world, measurement starts on arrival and you can switch it off at any time with the Cookies link in the footer of every page. We ask again after a year, whichever way you answered.

To change your mind at any time, use the Cookies link in the footer of any page on this site. It reopens the same choice, and rejecting there deletes the analytics cookies straight away.

If you would rather not be counted, you can also install Google's official Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, use your browser's tracking protection or private-browsing mode, or block cookies for this site. Nothing here stops working if you do — the catalogue, search and every app page behave exactly the same.

Separately, your browser may store a small local preference for light or dark appearance and your chosen layout. That value stays in your browser and is never sent to us or to Google.

Advertising. We show no ads on this website. Should we place ads here in future, an advertising provider may set further cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure them — the same category of data described in the AdMob section above — and this page will be updated with a new date before that happens.

Standard server logs may record requests for security and reliability. Pages here link out to the App Store, the Chrome Web Store and Behance, each of which applies its own privacy policy once you follow the link.

Purchases

Paid apps are one-time purchases through Apple's App Store, or free or paid listings on the Chrome Web Store. All transactions are handled by Apple or Google. We never see or have access to your payment details, and no purchase history is recorded by the apps themselves.

Children's Privacy

Many of our apps are study aids used by school-age students. We are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations elsewhere. Our apps collect no personal information from any user, so there is no student data for us to share or misuse. The website's Google Analytics measurement records anonymous page visits only, is not used to build profiles, and no advertising or remarketing feature is enabled on it; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it does not run at all without consent. Where an app is ad-supported, ads are served by Google under the controls described above, and personalised ads can be switched off in device settings. Parents and schools who would rather have no advertising at all should choose one of our paid apps, or use the remove-ads purchase where an app offers one.

Individual Apps

This page is the site-wide baseline. It does not tell you whether one particular app shows ads — that varies from app to app, and each app publishes its own privacy policy saying so, along with any device capability it needs and any in-app purchases it offers.

To check a specific app, click its icon on the home page. Its page opens, and its Privacy Policy section near the bottom states exactly what that app collects, whether it is ad-supported, and what its in-app purchases unlock. The App Store and Chrome Web Store listings show the same information under “App Privacy” and “Privacy practices.”

Data Sharing

We collect no personal data ourselves, so we have nothing of our own to sell or share, and we never do. The one third party that receives data is Google — as our advertising provider in ad-supported apps, and as the analytics provider for this website — in the two ways described above and under its own privacy policy. We sell data to nobody.

Your Rights

Privacy laws such as the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. We hold no personal data of our own, so in most cases there is nothing for us to return or erase. Deleting an app removes the data it stored on your device. For the website, the Cookies link in the footer lets you withdraw consent as easily as you gave it, clearing this site's cookies removes the analytics identifier from your browser, and the opt-out add-on above stops any further measurement; the aggregate reports Google keeps carry no information that identifies you, and Google deletes them once the retention period set on the property expires. You are welcome to contact us with any question about this, including a request that we delete measurement data associated with your visit.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any update will appear on this page with a new “last updated” date.
