Privacy Policy

This policy covers the chalplex website and every app and browser extension published under the chalplex name for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Safari and Chrome.

Introduction

chalplex (“we,” “our,” or “us”) builds small, focused apps and extensions — revision quizzes, calendars, calculators, note tools and utilities. This Privacy Policy explains how those products, and this website, handle information.

What We Collect Ourselves

chalplex does not collect any personal data. We operate no servers or accounts of our own, and we do not collect, store, transmit or sell personally identifiable information. We build no analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs into our apps.

• No registration, sign-in or user account is required to use our apps.
• Your content — notes, quiz progress, starred cards, saved settings — is stored locally on your device, and in your own iCloud account if you have enabled iCloud sync for that app.
• Where an app needs a device capability to do its job — the camera, microphone, motion sensors, the compass or the photo picker — that data is processed on your device in the moment and is never transmitted to us.

This does not describe what our advertising partner collects, which is covered next and is the main way data is gathered from our free apps.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Most of our free apps display ads using Google AdMob. When an app shows ads, Google automatically collects and processes certain data for personalised or non-personalised advertising, including:

• Device identifiers, such as the Advertising ID
• Approximate location, used to serve locally relevant ads
• Ad performance and interaction data

This data is collected and processed directly by Google, not by us — we never receive it. Google's use of it is governed by their own policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

To turn off personalised ads on an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Apple Advertising and switch off Personalised Ads. You can also reset or limit your Advertising ID there.

Our paid apps contain no ads. Many free apps additionally offer a one-time in-app purchase that removes advertising permanently, alongside unlocks such as extra topics or iCloud sync. Whether a given app is ad-supported, paid and ad-free, or offers a remove-ads purchase is stated on that app's own page and on its store listing.

This Website

No data collection takes place on this website. It is a static catalogue of our work. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics and no tracking cookies, and it does not build any profile of you. Your browser may store a small local preference for light or dark appearance and your chosen layout; that value stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

This may change in one respect only: advertising. Should we place ads on this site in future, an advertising provider may then set cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure them — the same category of data described in the AdMob section above. That would be the only reason data is ever collected here, and this page will be updated with a new date before it happens. We will not introduce analytics, tracking or profiling for any other purpose.

Standard server logs may record requests for security and reliability. Pages here link out to the App Store, the Chrome Web Store and Behance, each of which applies its own privacy policy once you follow the link.

Purchases

Paid apps are one-time purchases through Apple's App Store, or free or paid listings on the Chrome Web Store. All transactions are handled by Apple or Google. We never see or have access to your payment details, and no purchase history is recorded by the apps themselves.

Children's Privacy

Many of our apps are study aids used by school-age students. We are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations elsewhere. We collect no personal information from any user, so there is no student data for us to share or misuse. Where an app is ad-supported, ads are served by Google under the controls described above, and personalised ads can be switched off in device settings. Parents and schools who would rather have no advertising at all should choose one of our paid apps, or use the remove-ads purchase where an app offers one.

Individual Apps

This page is the site-wide baseline. It does not tell you whether one particular app shows ads — that varies from app to app, and each app publishes its own privacy policy saying so, along with any device capability it needs and any in-app purchases it offers.

To check a specific app, click its icon on the home page. Its page opens, and its Privacy Policy section near the bottom states exactly what that app collects, whether it is ad-supported, and what its in-app purchases unlock. The App Store and Chrome Web Store listings show the same information under “App Privacy” and “Privacy practices.”

Data Sharing

We collect no personal data, so we have nothing of our own to sell or share, and we never do. The one third party that receives data is Google, as our advertising provider in ad-supported apps, in the manner described above and under its own privacy policy.

Your Rights

Privacy laws such as the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. Because we hold none, there is nothing for us to return or erase. Deleting an app removes the data it stored on your device. You are welcome to contact us with any question about this.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any update will appear on this page with a new “last updated” date.
